Lord of misrule

Lord of misrule by Rachel Caine is the fifth book in the Morganville Vampires serie. It’s been a while since I read the first four. At least now I’ve found a great web-site to keep track of the series I’ve read; FictFact.

In this book, the war has come. The war is mostly between Amelie (the founder of Morganville) and her father, Bishop. The problem is that there are sides in every war. The vampires must choose sides, and so does the humans. Claire feels like she is in the middle of everything. She is right. Because the war isn’t the only thing looming over Morganville. The vampires are turning sick, with a version of alzheimers, and at the moment there is no cure.

Claire is working with Myrnin to find a cure; which is sometimes dangerous since he has the disease. Myrnin is also a very old vampire. Not everyone in Morganville are what they seem at first glance. In addition to the war between the vampires, the humans in Morganville are getting sick of being treated like toys and food by a lot of the vampires. They are trying to start a rebellion. As we all know, war is messy, and you can’t always protect your friends.

I’ve found I really like this serie. Sure, Claire is young, and awkward at times, smart, but still not too smart, she is brave when it comes to defending those she believe in and in her friends, but at the same time she is terrified. She didn’t grow up in Morganville, so she is still learning the ways of the vampires. There is love, heartbreak, betrayal, vampires, wars, stupid people left and right and a lot of action.

I can’t wait to read the next book in the serie 🙂
